Dean Charles Chapman wears a vintage Waltham watch in the film 1917. This movie is based around the soldiers of World War 1 and Champan plays Lance Corporal Blake.
Founded in 1850, Waltham watches are an American brand. Interestingly, the first World War had a key part to play in the development of watches. Originally, many men would wear pocket watches but these were unpractical in warfare due to needing to pull them out of your coat. As a result, the wristwatch grew in popularity and was also named ‘The trench watch’ for obvious reasons.
