Coach is a company that is best known for creating handbags and other leather goods, using its trademarked iconic print on almost all of its products. The company was first established in 1941 by husband and wife team Miles & Lillian Cahn.

The stagecoach logo of the company is well known across the world and displayed on the dials of Coach watches.

As of today, Coach is a much larger company than it was back in the 1940s and boasts over 1000 storefronts in North America, Asia, and Europe. The Coach brand is held within the holding company Tapestry, which also owns the Kate Spade brand, which also produces fashion watches of similar quality.

The paragraphs below give an overall review of Coach watches and discuss their credibility purely as a watchmaker, not their leather handbag making ability.

Who Makes Coach Watches?

Coach watches are made by the Swiss brand, Movado. Movado are a watchmaker that manufacturers their own watches under their own name. Much like Fossil, Movado also makes watches licensed from various fashion brands. These include Olivia Burton, Hugo Boss, and Lacoste. Coach watches have a similar licensing agreement to all of these other brands.

Where Are Coach Watches Made?

Coach watches are assembled in China. Although Movado is a Swiss brand, Coach watches are not made in Switzerland. Once again, this is a very similar setup to various other fashion brands that all adopt the same style of licensing and manufacturing deals. Coach uses Miyota quartz movements which are made by the Japanese company Citizen. These movements are not the best in the world but are very solid.

Is Coach A Luxury Watch Brand?

Coach is certainly not a luxury brand when it comes to watches. Whilst the Coach brand is known for making entry-level luxury handbags, their watches are not made to the same standard.

This is a familiar story with many other fashion brands such as Diesel and Hugo Boss. Their primary sales are not watches and they have no history as watchmakers.

The prices of Coach watches are not of a luxury standard and neither is the construction quality. Whilst there is nothing wrong with Coach watches, they are just a standard fashion brand and mass produce pieces using very average Japanese movements.

Are Coach Watches Good Value For Money?

Once again, much like any other fashion company, you are going to pay a little extra for the logo and branding of the watch. If you were to switch the same standard Coach watch for a Seiko or Citizen, the latter would be a lot cheaper.

However, when compared to its rival brands such as Olivia Burton, Skagen, and Fossil, Coach watches are pretty average value for money. There is not a big pricing difference between any of these four brands and no noticeable difference in quality. Overall, Coach is very normal value for money, you will not get a bargain, neither will you get ripped off. It should also be noted that Amazon and eBay are two of the best places to buy these watches alongside the Coach outlet. If you’re a fan of the Coach brand already, then it’s well worth having a look at their selection of watches.

The Best Coach Watches

Coach Watches For Women

Boyfriend

The boyfriend is one of Coach’s best selling watches. It’s clear to see why as the gold watch makes use of the Coach print twice, once around the inner dial and secondly on the leather strap. Although somewhat oversize at 40mm, the boyfriend is still somewhat feminine with a circle of diamante crystals around the bezel. Lastly, two small guards protect the crown from any unwanted scuffs of knocks. Overall this is a classic design and very consistent with the Coach brand.

Preston Ceramic

This ceramic Coach model is likely a homage watch of the Chanel J12. With that being said, you’re able to pick up the Coach Preston for around 4-5% of the price compared to the Chanel model. On the surface, there is not too much difference between these two watches, both are made of ceramic. This means that the watch will be very scratch resistant and suitable for people who need a hypoallergenic watch, as well as being super lightweight.

The only negative thing about this watch is that it only comes in white. Whilst this might suit some, it would have been nice to release a black piece in the same style.

Perry

Coach is fairly well known for using rose gold for their women’s watches. The perry is a fairly simple design and uses a fairly clean, plain dial as well as a mesh strap to make the watch super lightweight.

The main visual feature behind this watch is the stagecoach logo featured at the 4 o’clock position. This design is somewhat unusual and not used by many other brands. Overall, this is a fairly minimalist and elegant watch.

Grand

With a 35mm case, this is ideal for a feminine women’s watch. Perhaps incorrectly named the grand, there is nothing really large or oversized about this watch. Available in a few different color schemes, this watch is best chosen with a silver dial and stainless steel bracelet or light pink dial with the original Coach print leather strap (pictured).

Coach Watches For Men

Charles

The Coach Charles watch is ideal for a casual setting. Whilst it is not going to turn any heads, this is the idea behind the watch – to be stylish yet unnoticed. The Charles watch makes use of the Coach “C” at the 3 o’clock position on the dial. This would have been an ideal place for a date window, although Coach opted not to do that with this model. Still, it is pleasant enough and a fairly masculine watch.

Chronograph

Not a typical watch you would expect to see from Coach. This sports style chronograph is fairly large and has a 51mm case size. Whilst this isn’t gigantic compared to some other mens watches such as Invicta, it still is towards the bigger end of the scale.

It functions using a Japanese miyota chronograph, so you won’t have any worries about accuracy or reliability. You can also just about make out the Coach print around the center of the dial, which has been rather subtly placed.

Delancy

A very minimalist and sensible men’s watch, the Coach Delancy is suitable for both work and casual environments. Despite being made of stainless steel, the Delancy makes use of a mesh strap and a very small crown, making it pretty lightweight. Its deep blue dial is a very masculine look when contrasted against the steel case.
