Momentum is a Canadian watch company that primarily sells watches to customers in the USA. As a brand, momentum makes a wide variety of watches such as field, dive, and dress watches. Not only this, but they also have a good selection of different movements including automatic, quartz and solar powered watches.
The brand momentum is known as “Momentum by St Moritz”. St Moritz watches were popular around 10-20 years ago, since then the company has shifted its focus towards being called solely “Momentum”. Whilst you are still able to find St Moritz watches here and there on the internet. Almost all of the newly produced watches are branded as momentum.
One main selling point about the brand is the excellent customer service. Company representatives are also very active on forums such as watchuseek and regularly answer questions about the brand.

Are Momentum Watches Good Quality?
Momentum watches are of decent quality, but the specifications vary from model to model. For example, you may buy a dress watch that has a mineral crystal and a standard quartz movement made by Miyota. This watch is a similar standard to a fashion watch made by almost any brand you can think of. There is nothing particularly special about this standard of movement or materials – although in fairness Momentum prices their watches accordingly.
Towards the top end of the brand, it is a different story. Momentum watches are very solid and well made if you are willing to spend a bit more money. They primarily use Seiko automatic movements such as the NH35, which isn’t luxury by any measure but is certainly 100% reliable.
In terms of materials, you can get Momentum watches made from solid 316L stainless steel or titanium. It should also be noted that their dive watches are not simple fashion pieces that have been created from designs of other brands. They are authentic divers models which have water resistance of both 300m or 200m (model dependent), so can be used functionally as well as for fashion.
Are Momentum Watches Good Value For Money?
Yes. Momentum watches have a price that is similar to that of various other watch manufacturers such as Hugo Boss and Emporio Armani. Momentum produces their watches to a much higher standard than these two brands, as well as offering a lot more in terms of specification variety. Fashion brands only offer a standard quartz movement with mineral glass. Momentum offers you the chance to buy legitimate dive watches, solid automatic pieces, and often use good quality lumes with sapphire crystal glass.
The closest brands to the standard of momentum are Citizen and Seiko. These two Japanese giants are well known for producing very good value for money watches. Momentum uses movements from both of these brands (Miyota and Epson respectively) and is no more expensive.
In summary, Momentum is a reasonably close comparison to both Citizen and Seiko. This is quite a big compliment for a brand which is fairly unknown relative to other watch companies.
The Best Momentum Watches
Momentum Torpedo
An ultra-budget dive watch. The Momentum torpedo is not like other brands dive models since it has a solid stainless steel bezel. This might be of less use underwater (since it isn’t lumed) but in terms of ruggedness, it offers a lot more protection.
Another difference between this and regular dive watches is the super oversized crown in the 4 o clock position. This is a watch that is made to be durable and knocked about, not like a Rolex submariner. Lastly, it has a partially open date window at the 3 o’clock position. Perhaps a standard date would have fit this design better, but that is just nitpicking.
Momentum Steelix
Yet another budget watch is the Steelix. It can be used as a divers watch, but is not strictly in this category since it doesn’t have a bezel and instead uses a minimalist stainless steel case.
As with most other Momentum pieces, this is another that is solid enough to use and abuse. It is not a watch that you’re going to worry about damaging since it is rugged and when combined with a sapphire crystal, you can’t really do any damage to it. Overall it is decent value for money.
Momentum Atlas Field Watch
The atlas is a great choice for anyone who is after a stylish looking field watch. Momentum uses a titanium case on this model, which makes it ideal if you’re out in the wilderness. Not only is titanium a lot lighter than stainless steel, but it is also hypoallergenic and won’t give you any bother.
Much like all other Momentum watches, you’re able to choose from either mineral or sapphire crystal, a choice that will largely depend on how durable you need the watch to be. The watch is available in a variety of different dial colors and has very solid lume – the white version is inverted so you can easily see it in the dark.
Momentum M50 Dive Watch
The Momentum M50 divers watch is a model that gives the likes of Seiko Prospex a run for its money, as well as costing a considerably cheaper price. Granted, this watch is not an automatic so could be considered pricey given it uses a quartz movement, but that would simply be neglecting the other features it offers.
Overall, this is a super tough watch that is available in a variety of different color schemes – 15 to be exact. If you’re a professional diver looking for something reliable, this offers a gigantic 500m water pressure resistance, which is pretty hard to find when looking for a dive watch, especially at this price.
Momentum Splash (Unisex)
Perfect for ladies or men with smaller wrists, the splash is a beautifully designed watch that has a 38mm case size. If the brand were to make another oversized version, this would also be ideal for men with larger wrists, but this has not been done yet.
Made in the style of a dive watch, the splash wouldn’t be recommended for this due to the hands not being lumed. Although it can handle up to 200 meters of water with ease, so it makes a great watch if you enjoy swimming.
Lastly, this watch is available in over 15 different color schemes with the bezel matching the silicon strap on each design.
