Mr Jones are a relatively small British watch brand that makes both quartz and automatic timepieces. The main selling point of the brand is that they are unlike any other. Due to the unique designs created by Mr Jones, you can’t really draw any similarities between them and any other brand.
Founded in 2007, Mr Jones was set up by Crispin Jones who is still a director of the company and was responsible for designing many of the original watches produced by the brand.
Without a doubt, Mr Jones isn’t trying to appeal to everyone. In fact, their watches will not even appeal to most people since they’re so off the wall. If you see someone wearing a Mr Jones watch and glance at their wrist, there is a good chance you’re going to think “What is that?”. After you’ve realized it’s a strangely designed watch, you still will not be able to tell the time on the dial unless you already know how the model works.
Perhaps the closest thing to a Mr Jones watch are the designs created by Russian watchmaker Konstantin Chaykin. However, these watches are going to set you back in the region of $20k – $100k. Mr Jones watches typically cost around $300, so are considerably cheaper. Obviously, the quality between the two brands is night and day, but the designs are both equally as zany as one another.

Are Mr Jones Watches Good Value For Money?
Mr Jones watches use a variety of movements varying from standard Japanese quartz that you will find in most fashion pieces, to more complex mechanical movements. These are certainly not luxury by any standard, but for $200-300 they are good enough.
Overall, this price is somewhat expensive if you’re just going to value them on specification alone. However, a LOT more research and development goes into a Mr Jones watch when comparing it to a fashionable watch brand such as Hugo Boss. It is here where the brand really earns its value for money. Not only this, but some watches use complications such as jumping hour features. This is far more difficult to pull off than something like a quartz based chronograph.
Considering there is nothing quite like a Mr Jones watch, they really are pretty good value for money. The cases are well made and they do not look or feel cheap like many watches which are made in China. As Mr Jones watches are assembled in the UK, this also adds cost to the production which could be cut by manufacturing in the far east. Although this obviously comes with drawbacks too.
All in all, Mr Jones watches are pretty good value for money. They could be cheaper given the specification, but they could also add 30-40% on to the price tag and not look too out of place.
Where Can I Buy A Mr Jones Watch?
There is a small selection of Mr Jones watches on Amazon and eBay. However, specific designs are always selling out and no longer produced, so stock will always be turned over.

Iconic Mr Jones Watch Designs
King
Based on the classic design of a king in a standard deck of playing cards, this is a typical Mr Jones design. If you don’t read the manual then you’re going to have trouble telling the time, but like any other watch, once you know how, it becomes second nature.
The Promise Of Happiness
Designed by Fanny Shorter, the promise of happiness is a very strange name for a watch featuring a large tiger on the dial. In fairness, the design is very distinctive and quite a lot easier to read than many of the other watches. The contrast in colors make sure that this watch will be noticed, but it is not too loud and ostentatious at the same time.
Sun & Moon
Mr Jones sun and moon is a classic design and a lot easier to read than most other models. It is far less flamboyant and makes use of an AM/PM style dial as the name suggests. Its simple color scheme is somewhat striking and understated.
Last Laugh Tattoo
A dial that looks like something from the Mexican day of the dead. The last laugh watch will have another person look at your wrist for 2 minutes and still not figure what time it is. Hidden in the teeth of the skeleton are 4 numbers telling you what time it is, with the rest of the skull as decoration. This watch will certainly not be to everyone’s taste, but will have a large appeal amongst those that like this style.
