If you can’t decide on which type of watch you want, it may be time to settle for an analog digital watch combo and get the best of both. Anadigi watches are no more expensive than a regular analog or regular digital watch and are a useful combination of the two movements.
Although this technology is not particularly groundbreaking, at the very least it can be useful for those who want to purchase a watch with two timezones. Not only this, but on some models, you can use the analog display to tell the time, whilst using the digital display as a chronograph. This is both convenient and visually straightforward.
In short, there are quite a few benefits to owning an analog digital watch, but no real drawbacks. Even if you completely ignore the digital display, it is still going to be there if and whenever you need it. Having a combination of both analog and digital movements can only really be a positive.

What is an analog/digital watch?
In the simplest of definitions, an analog-digital watch is a watch with both digital and analog displays. Although it is a little more complex than this, from a visual perspective you will be able to see both displays by looking at the dial.
Inside the case of the watch, it is a little more complicated than this. Typically you ana digi movements are created together and cannot be separated. With that being said, analog and digital movements run independently from one another but housed in the same case, so although they are connected, you could potentially break the digital movement whilst the analog part would still be working perfectly.
This can be observed when you remove the back from a watch to inspect the movement. You will find that watches with both analog and digital displays have two batteries, one for each movement.
Best Analog Digital Mens Watches
Tissot T-Touch
One of the few Swiss analog digital watches that you can find, the Tissot T-touch is a classic outdoors watch with many useful features such as an altimeter, barometer, and compass. As you would expect from a watch that has been made in Switzerland, the T-touch is very good quality and has a sapphire crystal alongside a titanium case which makes it both durable and scratch resistant.
Admittedly, the T-Touch is somewhat expensive given that there are cheaper alternatives on this list, alongside watches that have even more complications for a similar price. Albeit this is the price you are going to have to pay if you want an ana-digi watch from Switzerland.
Citizen Promaster Skyhawk
Perhaps somewhat daunting to look at for the first time, the Citizen Skyhawk is an analog digital chronograph watch with a huge variety of features. Firstly, despite having so many complications, the Skyhawk series are all eco-drive watches, which means that you never have to change the battery, since it takes and stores power from all light sources.
Secondly, the skyhawk is both a radio controlled watch and has world time available with 43 pre-programmed cities. Being an RC watch means that the watch synchronizes to the nearest atomic clock – you can’t really get any more accurate than this.
Granted, the skyhawk is somewhat expensive, but is certainly not overpriced. It has more features than pretty much any other ana-digi watch you can buy.
Pulsar
Pulsar is well known to be one of the most reliable and best brands for money. Using the same movements as its parent company Seiko (which is already great value), Pulsar is often considerably cheaper proving that Japan is really a great country in terms of bang for your buck.
Compared to other watches on this list, the Pulsar model is nothing special in terms of function or complications. With that being said, it is considerably cheaper than other brands such as Tissot or Citizen. In summary, this is one of the most affordable ana-digi watches from a good brand that you will find.
Casio Edifice
One of the most stylish men’s watches you can get for the money, the Casio edifice always has a habit of looking more expensive than it costs. Although not a smartwatch, you are able to connect the edifice to your phone via bluetooth, where you can set or delete alarms as required.
As with all Casio watches, you will always get a range of digital features such as stopwatches and in this case a very useful countdown timer. The key selling point is that despite all of these functions, this Casio edifice model is solar powered, making the watch super convenient.
Diesel Mega Chief
A somewhat rare and unusual model, the analog-digital combination picks up where the typical Mega Chief left off. This version has all the features of the regular version and is still very loud and oversized as you would expect. The case size of this watch is 51mm, which is exactly the same size as the non-digital model.
Of course, the main difference is that this watch has a digital LCD display and is a little more expensive. As the movement is more complicated, this is fair enough, although you will likely have to be a big fan of the Diesel brand to consider buying this watch.
Timex Expedition
There is no doubt that the Timex expedition series is one of the best value for money range of watches you can buy. This particular model within the series has 3 timezones, a countdown timer, and alarm settings.
In short, this watch is pretty much the rival to the Casio G-Shock. Although they do not look the same, they are both digital watches that are made to survive outdoor elements. The overall tradeoff being that the Timex is generally considered to be a lot less stylish, but costs significantly less.
Fossil Solar
Even though Fossil makes a huge variety of watches, almost all of them are basic quartz fashion watches, or simple skeleton mechanical models. Therefore it is quite a surprise to see that Fossil has made an analog digital watch, in addition to it being solar powered.
As with all Fossil watches, this model has been made to look a lot more modern and stylish than rival brands. It is good to see that they have managed to combine this fashion expertise with a very practical watch. Featured around the dial is a compass, chronograph, light and alarm setting.T his watch can be used for the outdoors, as well as not looking out of place in everyday life.
G-Shock
A watch that needs no introduction. The Casio G-Shock range is well known around the world for its reliability and toughness, as well as being generally good value for money.
Not all G-Shock watches are ana-digi models, with the majority of them being plain digital watches. When you look at them side by side, obviously there is a very obvious visual difference, but in terms of functionality there isn’t really too much to say. If you prefer telling the time from analog hands then this watch is going to be superior to a regular digital watch.
A nice combination of both digital ruggedness and stylishness, the Nixon Ripley is a good alternative for those people who think a Casio G-Shock is simply too bulky. Although the Ripley is 47mm, it is a lot thinner than a G-Shock and doesn’t have mountains of plastic protecting it.
Ideal for left handers, the Ripley is the only analog-digital model I know of that features a left sided crown. In summary, this watch is a little on the expensive side for what you’re getting but is one of the very few fashionable ana-digi models you can get.
Omega Skywalker
In all honesty, this is very expensive watch for what you get. That’s not to say it’s not a great watch, but in terms of value for money, you’re better off buying a Breitling Aerospace, or pretty much any other Omega watch such as mechanical speedmaster or seamaster.
With that being said, the Skywalker is certainly a unique and futuristic looking watch – which you would expect since this is a variation of the model that NASA asked to be made for them. Although whether this watch can justify being significantly more costly than a Breitling Aerospace is a question that needs to be asked before purchasing.
Breitling Aerospace
First released in 1985, the Aerospace was the original entry of a luxury brand into the analog digital market and is a design that is still very popular today. Breitling does make other variations of ana-digi watches, but the aerospace is by far the most classic and recognizable.
Although somewhat expensive, the aerospace is a very unique timepiece with a rich history behind it. Made of titanium, the watch feels very light even though it is solid and bulky. It should also be noted that due to its superquartz module, the Breitling aerospace analog hands move slightly differently from other non-luxury brands. They appear to jump whenever 1 minute elapses, rather than slowly moving around the dial. Fear not though, this (and all other Breitling models) are built to COSC standards.
It is a personal choice whether you think this watch is worth the money or not. But if you are after a luxury analog digital watch, this is a far superior choice than the Hamilton khaki aviation or any other newer model within this niche.
Best Analog Digital Womens Watches
Unfortunately, there is a real lack of options when it comes to ana digi watches for women. With that being said, there are a few options, but you’re mostly limited to variations of the ladies Casio G-Shock & Baby-G range. Thankfully there are a couple of other companies that make digital and analog watches for women, but clearly the demand is not as high for these compared to men’s watches.
Casio G-Shock
Both modern and feminine, the ladies’ range of G-Shock watches is pretty comprehensive. You can either go for very traditional colorings or buy something which is a little less pink.
Even though G-Shock watches for women are feminine, they are no less tough than any other G-Shock watch. This is the main selling point of the Casio best seller, you simply will not be able to break it. Not only this but G-Shock watches are known for their functionality, with the complications of world time, chronoraph, alarms, and day/date functions, the watch is very well equipped for everyday life.
Wenger
More than just a watch with an analog and digital display. This model released by Wenger is a unisex watch which has a lot of great features, most suitable for outdoor usage. Given that the watch uses a Swiss made movement, this is really quite an exceptional price, especially when compared to similar models such as the Tissot T-Touch.
It should be noted that the dial is a little large for a women’s watch, measuring 43mm. To put this into perspective, modern women’s fashion watches such as Michael Kors are considered to be “oversized” at 40mm. Whether or not this will put you off this watch is a personal choice.
Sekonda
Once upon a time Sekonda was a very prestigious Russian brand. Fast forward to modern day and it is yet another fashion brand making its watches in China using Japanese movements.
This women’s analog-digital watch looks pretty nice and has a 35mm case size, which is great considering there are such very few options for watches under 40mm. Overall, it is pretty expensive given it doesn’t have too many features, although it is still the cheapest women’s ana digi watch you can buy.
Tissot T-Touch II
The ladies’ version of the Tissot T-Touch is extremely similar to the men’s version. From a practical viewpoint, it is identical and has exactly the same dial layout alongside the various features.
This watch case is also made from titanium and has a sapphire crystal – once again in line with the male version. Thankfully, this watch is far more feminine and also cheaper to buy. It has a mother of pearl dial, as well as a white leather strap (instead of metal), in addition to this the hour indicators are diamante crystals rather than just plain black.
