What Is The Average Size Of A Womans Watch?
Whilst classic women’s watches originally had a case size of around 30mm, modern day ladies’ watches are considerably larger. Typically you will find that the average womens watch is between 30mm-36mm (dial).
Oversize watches for women are generally considered to be 40mm and above. Whilst this size is very typical of a standard men’s sport watch, women’s watches are almost always smaller.
With that being said, there is some overlap within this range. It wouldn’t be unusual to see a man wearing a 39mm watch alongside a woman wearing a 40mm. There are other factors to consider such as the design of the watch alongside the size of the person’s wrist.
Why Are Womens Watches Smaller Than Mens?
This is partly because of wrist size and partly because of tradition.
Typically men have always worn larger watches than women. Even in the 1940s when the average men’s watch was around 30mm, women wore 20-24mm watches. Since then both men and women’s watches have increased in size and it is far more socially acceptable to see both genders wear watches that are over 40mm.
In modern day, women’s watches are still considerably smaller than mens. With that being said, they are still both growing in both width and thickness.

TechnoMarine (40.6mm Case Size)

There are really not too many large face skeleton watches for women, so this Sturhling automatic is a good option in a range where there is very little choice. The Nixon Time Teller P is a nice budget alternative to Swatch watches. Whilst Swatch is not a particularly expensive brand, the Nixon Time Teller P is even cheaper and can regularly be picked up for under $75.
There is not too much to say about this watch other than it has a raised circular dial on a squared off 40mm case. The watch is not quite as oversized as many of the other watches on this list, but is still fairly big for a ladies’ watch.
