Donald Trump to become first ever President to attend Super Bowl

February 9, 2025 Off By Charlie Cutler

In a historic first, Donald Trump will attend the Super Bowl as a sitting US president. No previous president has ever been present at the event, although several have participated in pre-game activities, such as the coin toss, either in person or remotely.

With Trump’s attendance, the Secret Service has intensified security measures at the high-profile sporting event, which draws tens of thousands of spectators annually.

Since its inception in 1967, the Super Bowl has become a hallmark of American sports culture, attracting significant political attention. Former President George W. Bush commenced a tradition in 2004 by granting an interview to the event’s official broadcaster. This practice was continued by Barack Obama but was discontinued by Joe Biden during his tenure, which ended in 2025.

In a break from his predecessor, President Trump has opted to revive the custom by participating in an interview with Fox News, set to air prior to the game. The interview, conducted at Mar-a-Lago in Palm Beach, will delve into the changes implemented by the Trump administration since Inauguration Day and the President’s plans for his first 100 days in office.
